VANCOUVER, British Columbia, July 19, 2026 — iVoteLiberal.com, an independent Canadian public-interest accountability site, today published two new articles examining the gap between federal housing announcements and measurable delivery.
The first article, “Build Canada Homes Needs a Cost Ledger Before It Picks a High-Rent HQ,” argues that a federal housing agency created to improve affordability should publish the decision record behind its headquarters choice, including location alternatives, rent and fit-up estimates, office-space timelines, staffing assumptions, telework assumptions and the reasons for overruling departmental advice if applicable.
The second article, “The June Housing Starts Receipt Is a Warning for Carney’s Homebuilding Promise,” uses CMHC’s June 2026 housing-starts release as a public-accountability marker. It argues that Ottawa’s housing promises should be measured by monthly starts, completions, costs, affordability levels and occupancy dates—not by announcements, slogans or pipeline language alone.
iVoteLiberal.com says the housing file needs a monthly public dashboard connecting federal claims to real-world delivery. The site argues that Build Canada Homes, federal land projects, factory-built-home plans, subsidized units and affordability promises should all be reconciled against CMHC data and published in a form Canadians can audit.
“If Toronto is truly the best headquarters choice, release the analysis and defend it. If the decision was political convenience dressed up as delivery, Canadians should know that before the agency asks for more patience, more authority or more money,” one article says.
The articles call for a practical accountability standard: homes started, homes completed, affordability levels, occupancy dates, cost per unit, administrative cost control and clear explanations when federal measures are not changing the national starts trajectory.
