DUMFRIES, 16 October 2026 — Businesses in Dumfries and across Dumfries and Galloway — where the nearest IT engineer can be a long drive away — can now get computer faults repaired remotely for a fixed £39.99, under a service launched by Glasgow-based Riverbank IT Systems.
The south of Scotland's economy is spread thin: agriculture and food businesses, tourism operators, forestry and estate offices, haulage firms on the A75 corridor and small retailers across the market towns. For firms in rural areas, getting IT help has traditionally meant paying for an engineer's journey before any fixing begins — or simply making do.
Riverbank IT Systems' remote repair model removes the travel tax. For £39.99 plus VAT, an engineer connects remotely and works on the fault for up to 20 minutes — enough for most everyday problems: email and Microsoft 365 failures, printer and network issues, malware clean-ups, account lockouts and computers that will not start. Repairs needing longer, parts or a genuine on-site visit are quoted in writing first, so rural firms are never landed with an open-ended bill.
"A farm office or a tourist business outside Dumfries should not pay double what a Glasgow firm pays for the same fix," said Timothy A., founder of Riverbank IT Systems. "Most faults do not need someone in the room. We connect remotely, fix it for £39.99, and if it genuinely needs a visit we quote it in writing — nobody drives two hours on spec."
The service runs 24/7 — important for agricultural and tourism businesses that keep non-office hours — with urgent faults triaged within minutes and no contract required.
Riverbank IT Systems serves Dumfries, Stranraer, Castle Douglas, Annan and the wider Dumfries and Galloway area remotely from its Glasgow base.
