A phoenix on the chest: three songs that trace the healing story behind Planeta Gayfolk

From the echoing rooms of «Ruido en mi mente» to the bilingual defiance of «No Contact» and the club fire of «Tattoo de fénix», a look at how Mike Sain't Louis turned recovery into a sequence of songs, all free to download.

MADRID, Spain, October 24, 2026. Healing rarely happens in a straight line, and the songs that come out of it rarely sound the same. In the catalogue of Mike Sain't Louis, the Madrid-based lyricist, composer and music producer behind Planeta Gayfolk, the story of recovery is told in very different registers: a claustrophobic ballad, a defiant dance track and a club anthem about rebirth. Heard in that order, they form a small arc that many listeners have described as a map of their own way out.

This release follows that arc with care. It does not offer advice and it does not explain psychology. It simply listens to what three songs say, and to how they connect with the experiences Mike has chosen to share publicly.

The story behind the songs

Mike has spoken openly about losing many years to relationships marked by narcissistic abuse, and about what happened when those relationships ended: the isolation, the doubts planted in the people around him, and a long period of serious depression and anxiety. Today he is in psychiatric and psychological treatment, and he describes his songs as the place where he finally got to tell his own version of events. Part of his mission, he says, is to make narcissistic abuse visible so that other people can recognise it sooner.

He has also been honest that he came close to the edge during the worst of it, and that he is still here thanks to help and time. Whenever that part of the story is told, the project repeats the same message: if you are struggling or thinking about suicide, you are not alone. In Spain you can call 024, free and available 24 hours a day; outside Spain, contact your local emergency number or a crisis line in your country.

First room: the noise

«Ruido en mi mente», "Noise in my mind", is the darkest of the three songs and the one that sounds most enclosed. Its imagery is domestic and oppressive: «Un reloj parado grita su tic», a stopped clock shouting its tick, and air that weighs «como un ladrillo gris», as heavy as a grey brick. The most chilling line is about memory: «El pasado se sienta al filo de mi cama», the past sits at the edge of my bed.

There is no rescue in this song, and that is part of its value. Many listeners who have lived through anxiety recognise the circular feeling the chorus describes, of running in circles in a dream without a net. By naming that loop so precisely, the song makes it a little less lonely. It is not a solution; it is a companion for the night.

Second room: the closed door

«No Contact» changes everything, starting with the language. The song moves fluidly between English and Spanish, and its subject is the rule that many survivors of manipulation learn the hard way: cut communication completely. The opening is a manifesto on the dance floor, «On the dancefloor, I don't look back», and a few lines later comes the most quietly revealing detail in the whole catalogue: «Mi therapist me ha ayudado», my therapist has helped me.

That line matters. In a genre that often presents survival as a solo act of willpower, «No Contact» credits professional help in passing, as naturally as it mentions the beach. The narrator is still shaken, «Aunque tiemble, I won't fall», even if I tremble, but the doors are closing one by one, «Cierro puertas, bye drama». The song ends with the simplest possible declaration: «Hoy mi vida vuelve a mí», today my life comes back to me.

Third room: the fire

«Tattoo de fénix» is where the arc opens up onto a crowded club. Its opening image is permanent, written on the skin: «Un ave fenix llevo tatuado en el pecho», a phoenix tattooed on the chest. The bird that rises from its own ashes is one of the oldest symbols of renewal, and here it is translated into the language of a dance floor: the beat rises, the volume goes up and nobody can stop the narrator, «Sigo el impulso, no hay quien me frene».

What is striking is that the song never mentions the past at all. The ashes are implied. All we see is the fire in motion, «fuego en movimiento», and an invitation to dance together. After the closed rooms of the first song and the decisive door of the second, the third song is simply alive, and it wants company.

Why the order matters

None of these tracks was released as part of a formal concept, but they talk to each other. The noise, the door and the fire are three moments that do not happen once and for all; on some days the first one comes back. Mike has never presented his recovery as finished. What the songs offer is the reminder that the other rooms exist too, and that the music can move between them.

That is perhaps why so much of Planeta Gayfolk ends on a dance floor. Dancing, in this universe, is not denial. It is proof that the body can feel good again, alongside treatment, time and the people who stay.
