ASTORIA, N.Y. — October 26, 2026 — Holiday and Christmas parades in late November and early December are planned weeks ahead by chambers of commerce, scout troops, schools, dance studios, and local businesses that enter floats. 48 Hours Banners (https://48hoursbanners.com) is sharing a holiday parade signage plan for float entries and parade organizers.Float and entry checklist:
- Side banners for each side of the float or trailer with the group name, sized to the trailer rail length.
- A lead banner carried in front of a marching group, with pole pockets for two carriers.
- A rear banner on the tow vehicle or trailer gate with a website or QR code.
- Magnet-friendly or grommeted banners that hold up in wind and cold.
Organizer checklist:
- Route and parking yard signs for line-up areas and staging.
- A reviewing-stand or judges' banner and a sponsor banner near the start.
- Street-closure and detour yard signs placed the day before.
Tips:
- Measure the float before ordering and leave room for lights and decorations.
- Use wind slits or mesh on larger banners for moving vehicles.
- Keep lettering large enough to read from the curb.
"A parade float is seen by thousands of neighbors in a single hour, so the group name should be readable from across the street," said a spokesperson for 48 Hours Banners. "With 48-hour delivery and free overnight shipping, groups can confirm their entry in November and still have banners in hand before line-up."
