Utah Masons Complete Statewide "DAY OF SERVICE" Across 12 Community ProjectsStatewide initiative mobilized local lodges across Utah to support emergency shelters, food security, domestic violence centers, and care for vulnerable populations
SALT LAKE CITY, Oct. 23, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On Saturday, October 17, 2026, 200+ members of the Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons of Utah and local lodges statewide successfully conducted a coordinated, statewide Day of Service. Initiated by the Grand Master, Utah Masons executed 12 service projects across the state, delivering hands-on support to critical non-profit partners, shelters, and crisis intervention centers from Cache Valley to Washington County.
Freemasonry is founded on the principles of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth. This statewide effort translated those values into direct community action, mobilizing volunteers to prepare and serve meals, sort essential donation supplies, conduct facility maintenance, and assist regional programs serving individuals and families in need.
Key regional impacts and project highlights included:
Salt Lake County: Volunteers from multiple Masonic lodges provided 53 individual volunteer shifts across facilities managed by The Road Home, including the Pamela Atkinson Resource Center, Gail Miller Resource Center, Connie Crosby Family Resource Center, and the Aging & Medically Vulnerable People Program. Service work encompassed full-day meal preparation and service (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), multi-shift donation sorting, and cleanup at the Palmer Court Apartments.
Davis County: Masons worked directly with the Safe Harbor Crisis Center to improve facilities, supporting shelter and housing programs designed to provide safety, dignity, and self-worth to domestic violence survivors and underprivileged individuals in Northern Utah.
Utah County: Members supported the Food and Care Coalition in Provo, assisting with meal distribution, shower and laundry services, and transitional housing resources for residents experiencing homelessness.
Tooele County: Local lodge members provided hands-on volunteer assistance to Switchpoint Tooele to aid emergency shelter operations and support community outreach services.
Washington & Iron Counties: Masonic lodges in St. George and Cedar City partnered with the Switchpoint Community Resource Center and the Dove Center, supporting emergency shelter care, food services, and advocacy programs for women and children in crisis.
Weber, Cache, & Box Elder Counties: Masonic volunteers supported Lantern House in Ogden, assisting with shelter operations, food service, and case management prep.
Uintah Basin: Volunteers assisted the Ashley Valley Homeless and Hungry Coalition in Vernal, strengthening regional food security and emergency aid distribution.
"This effort was about active service and supporting the organizations that care for our communities every single day," said Daniel Drew, Grand Chaplain for the Grand Lodge of Utah. "By coming together across every region of our state, Utah Masons demonstrated that charity and brotherhood extend far beyond lodge walls into the neighborhoods where help is needed most."
Members of the public interested in learning more about Freemasonry and its ongoing commitment to community outreach are encouraged to reach out to their local Masonic lodge.
