Weekend Vikings Release Driftlines, an Interactive Jazz Album with Nine Musical WorldsBUDAPEST, HUNGARY – 7 November 2026 – Budapest-based instrumental jazz duo Weekend Vikings have released Driftlines, their second album, accompanied by an interactive music experience created entirely by the two musicians. Released on 27 October 2026, the nine-track album combines melodic jazz improvisation, progressive rock influences and psychedelic textures with an unusual digital companion: nine visual environments and nine original stories.
Weekend Vikings consists of pianist and keyboardist Gábor Szunyogh and drummer Viktor Szathmáry. Moving between acoustic piano, Rhodes, synthesizers and drums, their music explores spontaneous interaction, atmospheric soundscapes, unexpected rhythmic turns and a strong sense of melody.
Nine tracks, nine interactive worlds
Rather than presenting the album solely through conventional streaming services, the duo developed a browser-based interactive music box. Each composition has its own visual environment and accompanying story, inviting listeners to discover the music in a different way.
Visitors can explore a moving starry sky, clear condensation from a virtual window, interact with animated letters and encounter other visual surprises as the music unfolds.
Szathmáry, who is also a software developer, created the interactive environments, while Szunyogh, a writer and journalist, contributed the nine original stories. The project was developed independently, without an external design agency or production studio.
“We wanted to bring back some of the feeling of spending time with a whole album rather than simply moving from track to track,” explains Szunyogh.
Beyond traditional music streaming
The interactive version of Driftlines is available free of charge at:
https://wv.band/
The experience runs directly in a compatible web browser, without requiring users to download an application.
The album is also available on major streaming platforms, including Spotify and Apple Music, for listeners who prefer a conventional listening experience.
*Driftlines* follows Weekend Vikings' debut album, *Sparks!*, released in November 2025. The duo has also performed at Budapest's A38 Ship, with a live concert recording broadcast on Hungary's M2 Petőfi TV.
By bringing together original instrumental music, storytelling and creative coding, Weekend Vikings offer an alternative way to experience an album in the digital age.
