Harris Pictures Presents Worldwide Box-Office Comparison for Six-Film Development SlateMALIBU, Calif. — November 2026 — Harris Pictures, the independent entertainment company led by founder, actor, producer, and writer Aces Harris, is presenting a comparative theatrical performance analysis examining the commercial potential of six motion-picture projects in development.
The analysis accompanies the company's film development and financing outreach surrounding the 2026 American Film Market (AFM). It uses selected theatrical releases from 2021 through 2026 to examine how films with related storytelling elements have performed at the worldwide box office.
Six Films, Six Commercial Categories
The analysis highlights the following Harris Pictures projects:
- CHOKE — Action Thriller: A motorcycle-driven story involving competition, betrayal, crime, and redemption. Selected comparisons include John Wick: Chapter 4, The Beekeeper, and The Batman.
- FINAL EARTH — Science-Fiction Drama: A far-future story about humanity's survival, planetary transformation, family, and the discovery of an ancient vault. Selected comparisons include Avatar: The Way of Water, Dune: Part Two, and Resident Evil.
- JACK MERCER — Crime and Legal Thriller: A story involving high-stakes poker, legal conflict, deception, and criminal intrigue. Selected comparisons include Where the Crawdads Sing, Sound of Freedom, and Pathaan.
- THE MAN WHO BUILT THE STAIRWAY — Music Biographical Drama: A film centered on the rise of Led Zeppelin and the personal and professional pressures surrounding musical success. Selected comparisons include Elvis, Bob Marley: One Love, and Michael.
- THE WAY WE'RE GOING — Romantic Drama: A Las Vegas story about a singer, a pool hustler, ambition, and complicated relationships. Selected comparisons include It Ends with Us, Regretting You, and Materialists.
- VIRAL — Sports Drama: An MMA-centered story exploring competitive ambition, personal struggle, romance, and the pursuit of success. Selected comparisons include Creed III, Top Gun: Maverick, and 12th Fail.
The company's seventh project, THE WRONG SIDE, a World War II historical dark comedy, remains part of the broader development slate but is not included in this particular comparative graphic.
A Consistent Financial Comparison
The analysis uses a simplified theatrical break-even benchmark of 2.5 times each comparable film's reported production budget.
Under this model, worldwide theatrical grosses above the benchmark are treated as an estimated surplus relative to that threshold. The corresponding percentage is calculated by dividing worldwide gross by 2.5 times production budget, subtracting one, and multiplying by 100.
This is an illustrative box-office performance measure, not a statement of audited studio profit or actual investor return on investment. The benchmark does not individually account for distribution agreements, marketing expenses, ancillary revenue, or financing arrangements.
Connecting Storytelling with Commercial Performance
Harris Pictures is evaluating comparable films according to both their financial performance and their storytelling characteristics, including genre, audience appeal, conflict, character relationships, and narrative structure.
The objective is to support development and financing conversations with a consistent comparative framework while recognizing that the commercial performance of previously released films does not guarantee the success of future productions.
