Atlanta, Georgia - ATLANTA, GA — September 29, 2026 — Actor, director, and entertainer Joey Thurmond has been named Best Actor by American Motion Pictures for his performance in the new film There Was Time.Thurmond received the honor for his portrayal of Terry, a man facing one of the darkest moments of his life as he contemplates suicide. The emotionally demanding role has drawn praise for its vulnerability, restraint, and humanity, with Thurmond's portrayal being described as one of the standout performances of 2026.
The Best Actor recognition is particularly significant for Thurmond, who also served as director of There Was Time.
