MADRID, Spain, October 25, 2026. Among people recovering from manipulative relationships, two words carry special weight: no contact. They describe a decision to cut all communication with the person who caused harm, no calls, no messages, no checking social media. Therapists and survivor communities often recommend it because every new contact can restart the cycle. Mike Sain't Louis, the Madrid-based lyricist, composer and music producer behind GAYFOLK and Planeta Gayfolk, has written several songs about this step. Chapter three brings them together.
The anthem
The most direct is the dance track «No contact». Written in a mix of Spanish and English, it turns boundary-setting into a celebration. «On the dancefloor, I don't look back», the chorus says. The narrator closes doors, says goodbye to drama and notes that the other person's calls no longer ring. A line in Spanish acknowledges professional help: «Mi therapist me ha ayudado», my therapist has helped me.
The song is honest about the difficulty, too. «Aunque tiemble, I won't fall», even if I tremble, I won't fall. «Aunque supliques, not at all», even if you beg, not at all. No contact is not presented as easy. It is presented as necessary.
The refusal
«No te vuelvo a mirar más», I won't look at you again, approaches the same decision with more anger. The verses list broken promises: respect sworn and contempt delivered, apologies offered behind the narrator's back. The chorus is a set of firm refusals: «No recojo lo que tiras, / no devuelvo lo que das», I don't pick up what you throw away, I don't return what you give. And then the title line, a vow not to look back.
Here the boundary is not only practical but emotional. The narrator refuses to keep reacting to the other person's behaviour, which is often the hardest part of no contact.
The last goodbye
The shortest song of the chapter is also the most final. «Hoy es el último adiós», Today Is the Last Goodbye, repeats almost nothing but its title: «yo solo he venido a decirte que hoy / es el último adiós». I only came to tell you that today is the last goodbye. Its minimalism suits the subject. After a long relationship full of words, the final message can be very short.
Why no contact works
Manipulative dynamics depend on access. Every reply gives the other person a new opportunity to confuse, guilt or charm. Cutting contact removes that opportunity and allows the survivor's mind to settle. Many people describe the first weeks as extremely hard, almost a withdrawal, followed by a growing sense of calm. The songs in this chapter capture both phases: the trembling and the freedom.
Not the end, but a turning point
No contact does not erase what happened. Grief, anger and confusion may continue for a long time. But it creates the space in which real recovery can begin. The final chapter of this series is about what grows in that space.
Help with setting boundaries
If you are trying to cut contact with someone who harmed you and finding it hard, support can make a big difference. In Spain, the 024 line offers free emotional help at all hours, and specialised services can advise on abuse. In other countries, domestic abuse and LGBTQ+ helplines are available. Mike's own lyrics mention his therapist for a reason: help is part of the process.
