MADRID, Spain, October 25, 2026. Stories about abuse usually end when the person leaves. Real recovery takes much longer. Mike Sain't Louis, the Madrid-based lyricist, composer and music producer behind GAYFOLK and Planeta Gayfolk, has been unusually open about this long aftermath. He has shared that he lives with post-traumatic stress, severe depression, social phobia, avoidant personality disorder and anxiety, and that he is in psychiatric and psychological treatment. The fourth and last chapter of this series follows the songs that describe rebuilding.
Treatment as part of the story
Many artists keep their mental health care private. Mike does the opposite. His lyrics mention therapists, psychologists and antidepressants directly. That openness has a purpose: to show that treatment is not a sign of weakness or failure but an ordinary part of recovery. For listeners who feel ashamed of needing help, seeing it named so plainly in a song can be a relief.
The song that saves
«La música me está salvando», Music Is Saving Me, is the clearest statement of what creativity has meant for him. The narrator lists everyone and everything that did not manage to help him on its own, psychologists, friends, siblings, partners, even prayers, and then declares that it is music that is lifting him. The line is not a rejection of therapy; Mike continues his treatment. It is a recognition that, alongside it, writing songs gave him something nothing else could: a language of his own and a sense of rising.
Laughing again
«Ni un pimiento» shows another tool of recovery: humour. Using the Spanish expression «no vale un pimiento», not worth a pepper, the song argues that crying over the past is not worth it. It jokes that the lost love was second-hand and past its expiry date. Being able to laugh at what once destroyed you is often a sign that healing has gone deep.
Liberation day
«El día de la liberación» names the moment when the wounds no longer bleed. «Hoy es el día de la liberación», today is the day of liberation, the song begins, and «ya hay un vencedor», there is already a winner, and it is not the manipulator. The narrator pictures himself happy in Benidorm while the other person searches for a new source of supply. It is a song of triumph, but also of distance: the past is finally behind.
Ordinary joy
The last song of the chapter is «Marica chill», a sunny anthem about walking to the beach with glitter on your face, ignoring critics and feeling good without a partner. «I don't need pareja pa' sentirme bien», I don't need a partner to feel good. His dogs and his eyeliner are enough. After four chapters of pain, it is a fitting end: not a dramatic victory but a pleasant morning.
Recovery is not linear
The series is presented in order, but real healing rarely follows a straight line. People move back and forth between chapters, sometimes in the same week. The songs can be listened to in any order, depending on what you need that day.
Help on the long road
If you are rebuilding after a harmful relationship, you do not have to do it alone. In Spain, the 024 line offers free support at any hour. In other countries, local crisis lines, mental health services and LGBTQ+ organisations can help. Mike's openness about his own psychiatric and psychological care is meant as encouragement: asking for help is part of getting better.
How the songs are made
Mike Sain't Louis writes all of his lyrics and directs the production of each release. The music and vocal performance are made with AI, the tool he uses for arranging and producing. He calls himself the first AI songwriter, «el primer cantautor IA».
