Aerostratospheric operated an x1Albatross envelope check on September 12, 2026, using a 100g latex balloon and a simulated payload. The public flight record lists a burst at 59,000 ft / 18.0 km and a landing in Vigo County, Indiana, 38 mi ENE, under NOTAM STL 09/223.
The flight was a trajectory and envelope check, not an operational long-duration x1Albatross flight. That distinction is central to the record and to any public retelling of the test. Aerostratospheric publishes Flown mission facts for open-science awareness and invites collaboration around shared atmospheric data and STEM learning paths—not public pad-day attendance.
