A Space Startup Is Coming Out of Stealth With Seven-Figure Deals

A Latvian space startup is stepping out of stealth with seven-figure commercial agreements, three planned lunar missions by 2029, and a longer-term ambition to build Moon Base as a Service.

RIGA, LATVIA | 26 OCTOBER 2026 – SpaceOro, a Latvian space startup, is coming out of stealth with seven-figure commercial agreements and plans for a series of lunar missions designed to support the growing demand for transportation and infrastructure around the Moon.

Getting to the Moon is one challenge. Supplying it is another. A satellite or scientific instrument can be part of a single mission, but building infrastructure requires a steady flow of equipment, power systems, communications technology, rovers and replacement parts. Today, lunar transportation remains expensive, and opportunities to send cargo depend on mission schedules rather than regular delivery services. Missing a launch opportunity can mean a lengthy wait, making projects harder to plan and more expensive to execute. A lasting presence on the Moon will require more than occasional missions. It will need reliable transportation that supports ongoing activity.

The market is beginning to take shape. NASA is advancing plans for a sustained lunar presence, while the European Space Agency is developing Argonaut, a cargo lander planned to support lunar missions from the 2030s. As lunar exploration moves beyond individual missions toward longer-term operations, transportation and logistics will become increasingly important.

SpaceOro plans to approach this opportunity in stages. Its first mission, RedLunar, is planned for late 2027. The 12U satellite is designed to carry customer payloads into low lunar orbit. Demand for the mission has exceeded expectations, prompting the company to plan RedLunar 2, a follow-on mission with greater payload capacity.

The next step is Red1, a 165 kg cargo vehicle planned for 2029 and designed to transport cargo from low Earth orbit to low lunar orbit. The longer-term objective is to move beyond occasional, costly missions toward more regular cargo transportation.

Over the next five years, SpaceOro aims to develop Moon Base as a Service, building on its transportation programme to support future lunar infrastructure and commercial activity.
Founded by Hammad Khan, SpaceOro is developing its lunar programme from Latvia. The company aims to secure $50 million in business in 2027 as it advances its missions and expands its commercial relationships.

RedLunar is the next milestone, followed by RedLunar 2 and Red1. Together, the missions represent SpaceOro’s planned path toward a future in which reaching the Moon is not just an occasional achievement, but part of a more regular transportation system.
