GLASGOW, 3 October 2026 — Riverbank IT Systems is challenging small businesses on the question most have never answered: when was your backup last restored — not created, restored? The Glasgow firm says untested backups are the single most common false comfort it finds in SME audits.
The firm's disaster-recovery message is deliberately unglamorous: tested restores, patched systems, locked-down admin access and knowing who to call before the incident — not after. Its continuous IT audit surfaces the gaps; its engineers fix them on 24/7 cover.
“Every business we audit, we ask when the backup was last restored,” says founder Timothy A. “That's the question that matters at 3am. A backup that has never been tested is a hope, not a plan.”
Riverbank provides backup and disaster recovery as part of managed IT support — monitoring, testing and restore work done by the same Glasgow and Edinburgh engineers who answer the phone, on a “no fix, no fee” basis for support.
“Ransomware does not check your postcode or your office hours,” Timothy adds. “The businesses that recover are the ones who rehearsed it. The ones who assumed are the ones who pay twice.”
A free thirty-minute IT cost audit — including a look at backup and DR arrangements — is open to businesses and charities across Scotland, Northern England and Northern Ireland.
