New five-day programme gives Grades 9–13 students a closer look at manufacturing, materials and engineering design.ABU DHABI, UAE — 3 October 2026 — Intelligent Partners has added a five-day Mechanical Engineering Internship in Abu Dhabi for students in Grades 9–13 who are considering engineering at university.
The programme connects students with a specialist engineering provider, where they see how a product moves from drawing and material selection to machining, fabrication, assembly and quality inspection.
Students are introduced to CNC machining, laser cutting, waterjet cutting, lathe, milling and welding and see why engineers choose materials such as aluminium, stainless steel, mild steel, copper and brass for different applications.
The five days also cover parts of engineering that students may not normally see at school, including quotations, procurement, quality control and engineering documentation.
Students then develop a metal product concept of their own. They choose the material, consider how it could be manufactured and decide which machinery would be needed before presenting their final concept.
“Students often tell us they are thinking about engineering, but they have never actually seen what happens inside an engineering workshop,” said Sanjeev Verma, Director of Intelligent Partners. “Five days will not teach them to be engineers. It can help them decide whether they want to study engineering.”
The Mechanical Engineering Internship takes place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, runs for five days and is open to students in Grades 9–13. Students receive a Certificate of Completion.
