Colombia Welcomes Its First EDC, PREVAIL Turns Up the Music and Gives Back: Nine Parties. One City. DANCE to Make a Difference.

As MEDELLÍN, Colombia is preparing to welcome Electric Daisy Carnival for the first time this October, placing Medellín at the center of the international electronic-music conversation. Around that historic weekend, PREVAIL, hosted by Priceless Events, is building an independent six-day experience designed to connect the people arriving for the music with the city hosting them.
Dillon Francis and A-Trak lead with an international roster for PREVAIL October 8–13 Medellín experience, combining nightlife, five-star hospitality, a D.A.N.C.E. community cleanup, a Colombian artist showcase joined by an expanding roster that includes 19:26, Gene Farris, Joeski, Tony Romera, Thomas Gold, Pleasurekraft, Kauffman, Eran, Bhaskar, Ragie Ban, Stone Van Brooken, Dani Masi, Domingo + LoveClub, Jason Vernau, Carlos Mendoza, Oscar L, Alex Stein & Pablo Lopera, Ciao, Felipe Alamis, Hassio, Juan Rodriguez, NYSE, Wilson Santos and Lucaz; a Space Miami resident DJ.
PREVAIL will bring together nine independent parties, international and Colombian artists, luxury hotel stays, private festival transportation, 24/7 bilingual guest support, community service, visual art and humanitarian giving throughout Medellín supporting Cruz Roja Colombiana.
Pre-parties at Bora Bora and Medussa, exclusive Dann Carlton Hotel after-hours, hotel experiences and transportation throughout the week are intended to turn a festival trip into a broader introduction to Medellín. organizers say the most important measure of the week will not be how late the parties run. It will be what the attention surrounding those parties can do for the community.
A portion of proceeds from PREVAIL packages and party tickets will support Cruz Roja Colombiana as the organization continues responding to the humanitarian consequences of the devastating 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck western Colombia on August 10. More than 661,000 people had been formally registered as affected as of September 4, and recovery needs continue across communities impacted by the disaster. The Colombian Red Cross, supported by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, has been responding with humanitarian assistance including health care, psychosocial support, essential relief supplies, water and sanitation assistance, shelter support and longer-term recovery efforts.
“Medellín is opening its doors to the world for EDC Colombia, and we want the week surrounding it to mean something,” said Claudio Alvarez, founder of Priceless Media Group / Priceless Events and host of PREVAIL. “We want guests to have an unforgettable experience, but we also want the attention and energy coming into Colombia to help people who are still rebuilding after the earthquake. Supporting Cruz Roja Colombiana gives all of us an opportunity to turn celebration into something that reaches beyond ourselves.”
For Claudio, the project is also an opportunity to introduce international visitors to the character and hospitality of Medellín. “It is a privilege and an honor to bring this experience to Colombia,” Claudio said. “We want to continue building it annually with grace and integrity. Medellín has an energy that is impossible to manufacture. There is a reason people call it Medallo Mágico. We want our guests to experience the music, the people, the hospitality and the city together and yes, we are absolutely bringing that five-star vibe.”
PREVAIL week will begin not inside a nightclub, but outdoors in the community. On October 8 from noon to 4 p.m. D.A.N.C.E. Cleanup
(Dedicated Artist Now Cleaning the Environment) will invite visitors, artists, music fans and Medellín residents to come together at Parque Natural Cerro El Volador, near the National University of Colombia at Medellín, for an afternoon combining environmental cleanup with music, art, creativity and community participation.
The idea is straightforward: people traveling to Medellín to experience the city are being invited to contribute to it before the first major night of celebration begins.
“When people dance together, strangers become a community. D.A.N.C.E. is about taking that connection beyond the music,” said GLO-JO, founder of D.A.N.C.E. Cleanup and the artist behind Color My Everything Art. “Before we fill the dance floor, let’s show up for the city. Bring the same energy, the same love and the same willingness to participate that you would bring to the party, and use some of it to leave something positive behind.”
The community focus will continue through a PREVAIL artist showcase and open call for Colombian artists. Selected artists will have opportunities to exhibit work during PREVAIL programming, while featured creators will be considered for a community artist spotlight designed to introduce Colombian talent to visiting guests, media, brands, collectors and international audiences. “If people are traveling from around the world to experience Medellín, then Medellín’s artists should be part of the story they take home,” GLO-JO said. “The city should never be treated as simply the backdrop for somebody else’s event. Its artists, its people and its creativity are part of why the experience is worth traveling for in the first place.”
For GLO-JO, the showcase auction is an extension of the same philosophy. He said “Someone is going to take this piece home knowing their bid helped another person. That gives the artwork another story and another purpose. PREVAIL is also positioning hospitality as part of the experience rather than simply a place to sleep after the festival. The accommodation collection includes Dann Carlton Medellín, Dann Carlton Belfort, San Fernando Plaza. Depending on the selected package, guests can combine accommodations and breakfast with PREVAIL parties, private festival transportation and round-the-clock bilingual concierge support.
The Dann Carlton Medellín will play a central role in the week, including exclusive after-hours programming following the festival. “Hosting PREVAIL at the Dann Carlton makes this year even more special,” Claudio said. “From the moment our guests arrive, we want them to feel Medellín’s hospitality.
