GoodDock, an independent digital download shop, today announced the release of its Layoff Survival Binder, a printable calm-down system for the worst day of a working life. Instead of a list of tips to read while panicking, the binder gives an exact order of operations: a prioritized 15-item Day-Zero checklist for the first 24 hours, severance and separation-agreement review checkpoints before signing anything, unemployment filing guidance, a COBRA versus marketplace health-coverage comparison, a 401(k) options overview, a money runway planner, and a week-by-week 30-day job search command center — plus an Excel workbook that calculates the numbers. The 56-page printable binder (US Letter) is organized around what actually has to happen, and in what order. Day Zero covers emotional first aid, what not to do on day one, and writing down what happened while memory is fresh. The exit-paperwork section lists severance checkpoints, questions to ask HR in the exit meeting, and deadline traps most people miss, including an attorney-review list before signing. The unemployment section covers what to gather before filing, weekly certification, and appeals deadlines. The health-insurance section compares COBRA and ACA marketplace coverage — premium, deductible, and network — and flags the 60-day COBRA election window. The money section builds a runway number from severance, unemployment benefits, and savings, and lays out the four 401(k) options without rushing a decision. The final section runs the next 30 days one week at a time: resume refresh, STAR story builder, networking scripts, interview prep, and an offer comparison sheet, plus a weekly rhythm planner and a bad-day page.
The companion 5-sheet Excel command center does the math automatically: a runway calculator showing months before money runs out, a deadline tracker with auto countdown, a job search tracker, and monthly expenses with auto totals.
"Laid off today? Start with item 1," said a GoodDock spokesperson. "The hardest part of a layoff is not any single decision — it is that twenty decisions arrive on the same day, while you are still processing the news. A binder that says 'do this first, then this' turns a flood into a sequence, and a sequence is something you can actually finish."
The Layoff Survival Binder is available as a one-time digital download ($24.99) at gooddock.site, and includes a free sample Day-Zero Checklist.
