Korea has much more to offer than shopping in Myeongdong or posing at Lotte World. Here are places that are actually worth your time.Seoul
Bukchon Hanok Village — Traditional Korean houses in the middle of the city. Walk the narrow alleyways and you forget you're in one of Asia's busiest capitals.
Seoul Forest — A massive urban park in the center of the city. Locals come here to escape the crowds. It's free, beautiful, and connected to the main subway lines.
Ikseong-dong — Narrow lanes filled with independent cafes, galleries, and vintage shops. Best explored on foot with no particular destination in mind.
Namsan Park — Hike or take the cable car to the top. The view of Seoul at night is one of the city's best free experiences.
Beyond Seoul
Gyeongju — Ancient capital of the Silla Kingdom. Tomb mounds, temple ruins, and a UNESCO-listed observatory. Take the KTX from Seoul and spend a full day or overnight.
Jeonju — Thehanok Village here is more preserved than Bukchon, and the food scene is underrated. Jeonju bibimbap originated here.
Boseong — Green tea fields that stretch to the horizon. Rent a bike and ride between the rows. Quiet, scenic, and a world away from city life.
Natural Beauty
Seoraksan National Park — The mountains in fall are stunning. Hike up to the granite peaks and you'll understand why Koreans consider this sacred ground.
Ulleungdo — A volcanic island in the East Sea. Remote, dramatic, and largely untouched by mass tourism. Worth the extra effort to reach.
