ALBANY, Ga. — A new digital advertising experience is taking shape inside Albany Mall as local startup Ocea Media brings large-format Digital Out-of-Home (DOOH) advertising to Southwest Georgia. The company has launched a 6.5-foot-tall, double-sided digital display inside Albany Mall, creating a new platform where local, regional and national brands can place video and static advertisements directly in front of shoppers while they are visiting the mall.
Unlike traditional printed advertising, the digital display can change advertisements throughout the day, allowing multiple businesses and brands to share the same high-visibility space. The display operates continuously, with advertisements rotating throughout the advertising loop.
A key part of Ocea Media's approach is its use of AI-assisted creative tools to help businesses develop professional-looking advertising content. The AI-assisted tools are used during the creative process to help businesses develop visual advertising that can then be placed on the digital display.
For smaller businesses, creating polished advertising content can often be expensive and complicated. AI-assisted content creation tools can help simplify that process, allowing businesses to develop attention-grabbing visual advertising more efficiently while gaining access to a large digital display in a high-traffic retail environment.
"We wanted to create an opportunity for businesses to have access to the type of advertising that is normally associated with much larger brands," said the owner of Ocea Media. "The goal is to make professional digital advertising more accessible while giving shoppers something more engaging than a traditional static advertisement."
The display uses a vertical 9:16 format with a 1080 × 1920 resolution and can accommodate 30-second video spots as well as static advertisements. Because the display is digital, advertisements can be updated without replacing physical signage.
The screen is positioned inside Albany Mall, which sees approximately 200,000 visits per month, or roughly 2.5 million visits annually, according to traffic figures provided for the mall.
For shoppers, the result is a constantly changing visual experience as advertisements appear while they move through the mall. For advertisers, the platform provides an opportunity to put their brand in front of consumers in a physical retail environment rather than relying solely on online advertising.
Ocea Media is offering advertising placements starting at $200 per week, with longer-term options also available. Advertisers can purchase non-exclusive placements, allowing multiple brands to appear on the display throughout the day.
The company is also accepting advertisers beyond the Albany market. Because the advertising is designed to build brand awareness, businesses do not necessarily have to be located in Albany to participate.
Ocea Media is positioning the display as a bridge between traditional out-of-home advertising and today's rapidly evolving digital marketing landscape — combining a physical location with dynamic digital content and newer AI-assisted creative tools.
As consumers increasingly encounter advertising across phones, social media and streaming platforms, Ocea Media believes there is still significant value in reaching people in the real world, where they are shopping, dining and spending time with their families.
The Albany Mall installation represents the company's first major digital advertising platform and marks a new step for the local startup as it works to connect businesses with consumers through digital media in a physical retail environment.
