Lies that condemn the love they claim to save: «Quien miente y jura» on the end of trust

Mike Sain't Louis opens «Quien miente y jura» with a paradox: whoever lies to save a love is really condemning it. A song about affection without love, admitted imperfection and the need to be valued. Free to download.

MADRID, Spain, October 25, 2026. People who lie in relationships often believe they are protecting something. A small untruth to avoid a fight, a bigger one to avoid a breakup, an oath to make it believable. Mike Sain't Louis, the Madrid-based lyricist, composer and music producer behind GAYFOLK and Planeta Gayfolk, takes that logic apart in «Quien miente y jura», Whoever Lies and Swears. The song begins exactly where the liar's reasoning ends.

The paradox

The first lines are almost a moral proverb. Whoever lies «para salvar su amor», to save their love, «en realidad / lo está condenando», is in reality condemning it. In the end, deception is «el peor traidor», the worst traitor, and it leaves only «un corazón llorando», a crying heart. The word «llorando» is then stretched out, «Llorandoooo», as if the tears would not stop.

The opening has the clarity of a fable. It does not accuse yet. It states a general truth that the rest of the song will apply to one particular relationship.

Affection is not love

The second section turns personal. «Y es que yo se, que no estás / enamorado», I know you are not in love. «Que me tienes cariño sí», you are fond of me, yes, «pero no estás». The distinction between «cariño» and being in love is crucial in Spanish, and the lyric uses it with precision. Fondness can coexist with indifference. It is not the same as choosing someone.

He knows this, he says, because of the things the other person does: «Porque soy para ti tan insignificante», because to you I am so insignificant. The actions speak louder than any oath.

Swearing on one's parents

The title phrase comes from a very Spanish gesture. «Quien miente y jura», whoever lies and swears, while «llorando», crying. Later, the lyric specifies the oath: «jura por sus padres», swears on his parents. In Spain, swearing on one's parents, or on their memory, is the most serious oath many people can make. Using it to support a lie is, the song implies, an unforgivable step.

The narrator concludes: «Nunca se volverá a confiar / en quién miente y jura por sus padres», one should never trust again someone who lies and swears on his parents.

Admitted imperfection

What gives the song its emotional maturity is a moment of self-criticism. «Y por supuesto yo tengo mis defectos», and of course I have my faults. «Claro que no soy perfecto», of course I am not perfect. The narrator does not present himself as a saint. He simply knows where his limits are.

«Pero sintiéndolo mucho este es el final», but I am very sorry, this is the end. «Necesito alguien que me quiera valorar», I need someone who wants to value me. The final request is modest and healthy: not adoration, just appreciation.

A song about standards

«Quien miente y jura» can be heard as a song about raising one's standards after a disappointment. It acknowledges imperfection on both sides but draws a firm line at deliberate deception. For listeners who have stayed too long with someone who was fond of them but not in love, the song offers a gentle permission to want more.

Support after betrayal

Discovering that someone lied to you, especially with solemn oaths, can shake your trust in everyone. If that loss of trust is weighing on your mental health, consider talking to someone. In Spain, 024 is a free line available day and night; in other countries, local crisis lines and LGBTQ+ support services can help. Mike speaks publicly about his own therapy to show that rebuilding trust, including in yourself, is possible.
