How 3rdCloud Business Intelligence Protects Clients From Fraud

How 3rdCloud Business Intelligence Protects Clients From Fraud 17.10.2026 · Richard Chilton, D.Sc. Know who you are dealing with before you sign In a tight economy, the costliest mistake a small business makes is trusting the wrong partner. A fake supplier, an unlicensed platform or a "members-only" scheme can take your money, your customer data and your reputation in one move. 3rdCloud now builds that protection into its SaaS platform. The Business Intelligence & Corporate Forensics module prod

Case study: a "members-only" launch that could not be verified
On 13 August 2026, a 3rdCloud member ran a report on a website collecting sign-ups for a private launch. The platform rated it CRITICAL, with a total evidence-quality score of 16 out of 100. That score does not say the company is a scam. It says the company could not be identified or verified, which is exactly what a client needs to know before handing over money or data.
The company and the person linked to it are not named in this article, because the report found no adjudicated wrongdoing.
What the website said: "Private launch in progress", "members-only access", a countdown to launch and a register button, in 13 languages.
What the report found behind it:
• No legal entity. No company name, registration number, registered office, owner or director appeared anywhere. The identity chain broke right after the brand name.
• A hidden high-regulation product. The site's own terms pages described a "global lotto and game community", and the site's code contained strings for deposits, betting, affiliates and identity verification.
• No licence. No gambling, lottery, crypto or anti-money-laundering registration was found in any country.
• Multi-country opacity. A claimed Central American incorporation, people leads in three European countries, a US registrar, a US content-delivery front and a mail server elsewhere.
• An unverified name. The person linked to the venture could not be matched to it. Public sources held several people with the same name, including one named in a third-party blog allegation. The report kept them separate and labelled the allegation as unproven.
• A practical warning sign. The domain was set to expire two days before the announced launch date.
The report also recorded what checked out. The domain was registered in 2015, with standard locks, and the site's security headers were strong.
The recommendation: do not proceed for now. Hold any partnership, investment, promotion, referral or data sharing until the operator provides nine specific items, among them a registry extract, ownership and beneficial-owner documents, gaming and crypto licences, a privacy policy review, audited accounts and trademark status.

How the module works inside 3rdCloud
A client enters a company name or website, adds any details they already have (a person's name, a country, a business field), and the platform builds the report in minutes.
1. Identity chain. It follows the path from website to brand, legal company, registration number, jurisdiction, directors, owners, bank and licensed entity, and shows exactly where the chain breaks.
2. Registry and people checks. It searches company registers (OpenCorporates, Finland's PRH/YTJ, UK Companies House, GLEIF) and professional and academic sources. Same-name people are kept apart, so a common name never becomes a false accusation.
3. Regulatory screen. It compares the business model with licensing rules: gambling, crypto (EU MiCA), consumer protection, anti-money-laundering and GDPR.
4. Website and domain forensics. It reads domain records, DNS, mail settings, security headers and the site's code, which often shows what a business really does behind a polished front page.
5. Red-flag engine. It combines findings. No single signal proves fraud, but an old domain with a brand-new launch page, no legal entity and a high-regulation product together form a pattern worth stopping for.
6. Scorecard and decision. Ten dimensions are scored, with an overall rating and a plain recommendation, plus the documents to demand before going further.
Every fact carries a label: VERIFIED, CORROBORATED, UNVERIFIED, COMPANY CLAIM or ALLEGATION. Clients see at a glance what is proven and what is only claimed.
The report sits next to the rest of the client's 3rdCloud tools, including Business Analytics, Lead Generation and the Big Data Research tool, so a partner check happens where the deal is being planned.
Seven checks every 3rdCloud client should run before a new deal
The case study shows the warning signs that most often come before a loss. Run a report and confirm these before money, data or your name changes hands:
[ ] A real legal entity. Company name, registration number and a registry extract you can check yourself.
[ ] Owners and directors. Who controls the company and benefits from it, and whether those people check out.
[ ] The right licences. Gambling, financial, crypto or other permits in every country where customers are recruited.
[ ] What the business really does. Compare the front page with the terms, privacy policy and the report's code findings. A gap between them is a red flag.
[ ] Financial evidence. Accounts, bank references or audited statements, especially before any investment or prepayment.
[ ] Recruitment-driven income. If earnings mostly come from signing up others, the EU Unfair Commercial Practices Directive may class it as a pyramid scheme.
[ ] Basic stability. Domain renewal, archive history and a reachable contact address.
If a partner cannot or will not answer these, the report's advice is simple: wait. A deal that is real will still be there when the documents arrive. A scam usually will not.

Save money and move forward with confidence
Traditional due diligence means hiring lawyers or investigators, waiting weeks and paying for each check. Most small businesses skip it and hope for the best. 3rdCloud puts a structured first-pass forensic review in every client's hands, as part of the platform they already use.
The savings come from three places:
• Losses avoided. A single blocked prepayment, fake supplier or unlicensed scheme can cost more than the entire one-time 3rdCloud licence.
• Time saved. Minutes for a report instead of days of searching registers, domain tools and news by hand.
• Better negotiations. A clear list of documents to request puts the client in control, and serious partners respect it.
When a report comes back clean, clients can move forward quickly and confidently. When it comes back critical, they have the evidence to walk away, or to set conditions.
Use it responsibly. The report is open-source, evidence-graded diligence, not a legal opinion, a guarantee or a finding of fraud. Coverage can be partial: in the case study, 34 of 40 live searches were rate-limited, and some registry and sanctions checks were left for manual follow-up. Low scores mean something could not be verified, not that someone did wrong. Allegations stay allegations until proven. For large or high-risk deals, use the report as the starting point and confirm key findings with a lawyer or accountant.
In an economy where every euro and every partnership counts, knowing who you are dealing with is no longer optional. With 3rdCloud Business Intelligence, it is built in.
