Hold On Angola CEO Attends International Congress of Investigative Journalism in Brazil

Francisco Muanza Strengthens Professional Development and International Cooperation Through Abraji and RedeGOV

Francisco Muanza attended the Abraji Congress and represented the Angolan Press Observatory at the Third RedeGOV Meeting. His participation in the 21st International Congress of Investigative Journalism and the Third In-Person RedeGOV Meeting is particularly relevant at a time when press freedom, transparency, and the fight against corruption face significant challenges.

Francisco Muanza, Chief Executive Officer of Hold On Angola, participated in the 21st International Congress of Investigative Journalism, held from July 30 to August 1, 2026, in São Paulo, Brazil. Organized by the Brazilian Association of Investigative Journalism (Abraji) in partnership with Universidade Paulista (UNIP), the event offered training in investigative techniques, journalistic ethics, and digital tools. His participation formed part of a broader professional development and international cooperation agenda aimed at strengthening accurate, responsible, and public-interest journalism.

Muanza received a certificate of participation issued by Abraji, covering 22 hours of congress programming. The certificate identifies Ana Carolina Moreno, president of the association, as the official responsible for its issuance.

RedeGOV Brings Together Organizations from Six Countries

As part of the same international agenda, Muanza represented the Angolan Press and Communication Observatory at the Third In-Person RedeGOV Meeting. The event brought together representatives from eight organizations across six countries during the last week of July in São Paulo.

According to information published by RedeGOV on August 7, 2026, the meeting aimed to strengthen cooperation among civil society organizations. Key topics included transparency, integrity, good governance, and the fight against corruption.

On July 29, participants ratified rules designed to guide the network's operations. Discussions addressed the General Assembly, Management Committee, and Executive Secretariat.

The meeting also covered the organization of Thematic Working Groups and procedures for admitting new members.

The program included workshops on legal matters, institutional compliance, and financial accountability. Participating organizations also presented proposals for small-scale projects, known as mini-grants.

Nicole Verillo, Advocacy and Anti-Corruption Support Manager at Transparency International Brazil, emphasized the importance of cooperation among organizations in addressing transnational corruption.

João Malavindele, a representative of the Angolan organization Omunga, highlighted the spirit of knowledge-sharing and mutual learning that characterized the meeting. He considered collaboration essential to promoting transparency and good governance.

Training in Investigative Tools

During the Abraji Congress, the RedeGOV delegation participated in activities focusing on financial investigations, data analysis, and press freedom.

The program included a workshop led by journalist Eduardo Goulart and a training session on the Horizons platform. The tool was introduced in the context of investigations involving Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs).

The delegation also attended a meeting with François Valérian, Chair of Transparency International.

In statements published by RedeGOV, Francisco Muanza highlighted the potential of technological tools for investigative journalism.

According to Muanza, the Horizons platform demonstrated the potential to trace information, analyze data, and identify assets linked to Politically Exposed Persons.

He noted that these methodologies could contribute to innovation in investigative journalism and efforts to combat corruption.

Commitment to Responsible Journalism

In a post on LinkedIn, Francisco Muanza expressed satisfaction with his participation in the international congress and the certificate he received.

"It was 22 hours of learning, exchanging experiences, and engaging with journalism professionals," he wrote.

The CEO of Hold On Angola also emphasized the importance of continuous professional development and improving investigative journalism practices.

Muanza expressed his gratitude to Transparency International Brazil, RedeGOV, and the Angolan Press and Communication Observatory for their support.

He also thanked Domingos José da Cruz and Hossi Sonjamba for their trust and for the opportunity to represent the Observatory at the international meeting.

The experience provided opportunities to deepen his knowledge and establish connections with professionals and organizations from different countries. His participation forms part of his ongoing professional development in journalism, transparency, and international cooperation.
