Riverbank IT Systems, a Glasgow-based IT support company, has published a public catalogue of more than 50 everyday business IT problems it will diagnose and repair remotely for a fixed £39.99 plus VAT — alongside ten free step-by-step fix guides small businesses can try themselves before paying anything.
The catalogue, live now on the company's website, groups the problems small firms actually report into plain sections: email and Microsoft 365 issues, printers and devices, Wi-Fi and networking, Windows and Mac faults, security incidents, account lockouts, business applications, and website and domain problems.
"Small businesses told us the same thing for years — they do not mind paying for help, they mind not knowing what it will cost," said Timothy A., founder of Riverbank IT Systems. "So we wrote the list down. If your problem is on it, you know exactly what the first 20 minutes costs before you pick up the phone."
The fixed price covers the first 20 minutes of remote diagnosis and repair. Many routine problems are resolved within that window; anything that needs longer, replacement parts or an on-site visit is quoted in writing before work continues. Hardware parts are not included.
Unusually, the company has also published free self-help guides covering ten of the most common calls it receives — including Outlook not receiving emails, a printer showing offline on Windows 11, OneDrive sync failures and Windows Update getting stuck. Each guide walks through the checks a competent office manager can safely try first, then offers the fixed-price repair as the fallback if the problem persists.
"We would rather a business fix its own printer for free and remember us when the server dies," said Timothy. "The guides are genuinely useful — that is the point. People who are helped for nothing tend to come back when it matters."
The catalogue and guides are aimed at small and medium businesses across Scotland, Northern England and Northern Ireland, where the company provides remote-first IT support with on-site visits arranged where needed.
