Discovery, longing, liberation: a listener's map of the GAYFOLK trilogy by Mike Sain't Louis

Three albums, three moods and one imaginary planet. A guided walk through the album trilogy at the heart of Planeta Gayfolk, from the first glimpse of a place to call home to the day the doors finally open, with every record free to stream and download.

MADRID, Spain, October 24, 2026. Some artists release albums the way other people post holiday photos: one after another, each one complete in itself. Mike Sain't Louis, the Madrid-based lyricist, composer and music producer who calls himself the first AI songwriter («el primer cantautor IA»), chose a different architecture for the core of his project. The GAYFOLK trilogy is a story in three chapters, and each chapter has its own emotional weather. Read in order, the three records describe a journey that many LGBTQ+ people will recognise from their own lives: noticing that a better place might exist, aching to get there, and finally walking out of whatever was holding them back.

This release is a simple map for new listeners. It does not try to rank the albums or pick favourites. It tries to explain why the three records belong together, what each one is for, and where to hear all of them at no cost.

Chapter one: the discovery

The first album is called “Descubierto un nuevo planeta llamado GAYFOLK”, "A new planet called GAYFOLK has been discovered". The official summary on Mike's website describes it in one sentence: someone looks up at the sky and finds a place where they could live exactly as they are. It is the astronomer's moment, the instant when a faint point of light turns out to be a whole world.

What makes the opening chapter interesting is that it does not begin in paradise. Its title track is a sharp, comic portrait of the cruelty that can circulate on dating apps, with a narrator who rejects everyone for being too old, too soft or not muscular enough, all while "searching for a discreet boyfriend", «Buscando a un novio discreto». The satire works because it is uncomfortable. Before anyone can discover a kinder planet, the album seems to say, they need to admit how unkind the old one can be. The discovery is not only of a new place; it is of the distance between the world as it is and the world as it could be.

Chapter two: the longing

The second album carries the most wistful title of the three: “Ojalá se pudiera viajar a GAYFOLK”, "If only you could travel to GAYFOLK". Mike's own one-line summary is precise and a little heartbreaking: knowing that place exists and not having the ticket yet.

Anyone who grew up queer in a small town, a strict household or a hostile workplace will understand that feeling. It is the stage of the journey that happens mostly inside the head. You have seen the lights of the other shore. You know there are people living openly and happily somewhere. But you are still where you are, counting the days and rehearsing the conversation you have not had yet. The second chapter gives that waiting room a soundtrack. Its songs move between daydream and frustration, between postcards of an ideal elsewhere and the very ordinary rooms where the dreaming takes place.

Longing is an underrated emotion in pop. Love songs usually arrive at the moment of union or the moment of loss. The middle chapter of the trilogy stays in the space between, and that is precisely what gives it its honesty.

Chapter three: the way out

The third album is “El día de la liberación”, "Liberation day". The official summary calls it the exit: the day you leave behind what weighed you down and start running. Its title track is one of the most quoted pieces in the whole catalogue, because it turns a private escape into a public celebration. «Hoy es el día / De la liberación», the chorus announces, and a few lines later it raises the stakes: «Gritemos con fuerza / ¡somos libres!»

What is being escaped is named without ambiguity. The lyric addresses a "manipulative loser" who has lost his power, and it describes wounds that have finally stopped bleeding. For Mike, this is not abstract. He has spoken publicly about spending two decades in relationships marked by narcissistic abuse and about the long recovery that followed, a process in which writing songs became a way to tell his own version of events. The third album is where that recovery becomes audible as joy. The narrator ends up happy in Benidorm, «Yo feliz en Benidorm», while the manipulator is left searching for someone new to feed on. It is a revenge fantasy of the gentlest possible kind: the revenge is simply to be well.

Why a trilogy and not a playlist

It would have been easy to scatter these songs across a long list of releases. Mike's catalogue already counts 273 songs published individually, and many listeners discover him through one track at a time. The trilogy offers something different: a sense of direction. Discovery, longing and liberation are not random moods. They are the three stages of a migration, and the albums invite the listener to make that migration with them.

The idea of a planet helps. Planeta Gayfolk is the name of the whole project, an imaginary world where nobody has to justify who they love or how they dress. A planet can be discovered, desired and finally reached, and the three album titles follow exactly that arc. The metaphor is playful, full of camp humour and science-fiction imagery, but underneath it there is a serious idea: that safety and belonging are places worth travelling towards, even when the journey is long.

How the records were made

Every lyric on the three albums was written by Mike Sain't Louis, who also directs the production, the artwork and the visual world of each release. The music and vocal performance are made with AI, which he uses as his production and arranging tool. The result moves freely across genres, from dance pop and electronic textures to ballads, Spanish folk echoes and outright comedy numbers, held together by the narrative of the planet and by a consistent queer point of view.

Where to listen and download, free

All three albums, along with the full archive of individually released songs, can be streamed on the usual platforms and downloaded completely free of charge, without registration. The two official starting points are the downloads page on Mike's website and the free shop on the Planeta Gayfolk site. Listeners who prefer to read along will find the lyrics of the songs with official videos on both sites.

For anyone meeting the planet for the first time, the suggestion is simple: start at chapter one and travel in order. By the time the third album reaches its chorus about liberation day, the shout will feel earned.
