Dallas–Fort Worth, TX — April 16, 2026 — A North Texas-based startup, Compoz™, is developing a new type of household system designed to simplify how waste is handled inside the home—reducing odor, volume, and friction before trash ever reaches the curb. The Compoz system combines two core functions into a single, cabinet-sized unit:
An odor-controlled chamber for food waste
A built-in compaction system for general household trash
Together, these features are designed to address one of the most persistent challenges in modern homes: managing food scraps and trash in a clean, efficient, and low-maintenance way.
“Most waste solutions focus on what happens after disposal,” said Mudhur Ibrahim, CEO of Compoz. “We’re focused on what happens before—inside the home—where the majority of waste is generated and where small improvements can have a meaningful impact.”
Food waste makes up an estimated 30–40% of household trash, contributing to landfill volume and odor-related challenges in daily life. By stabilizing food waste and reducing overall trash volume, Compoz aims to make waste handling more manageable for households while aligning with broader waste-reduction efforts.
Unlike traditional composting systems, the Compoz unit is designed to operate without outdoor bins, plumbing, or complex setup. Its form factor is comparable to a standard kitchen base cabinet, allowing it to integrate into everyday home environments.
The company has completed a working prototype and is preparing for early pilot programs with households and institutional partners in the Dallas–Fort Worth area.
In addition to its hardware system, Compoz is developing a companion software layer that provides basic usage insights and guidance, with the long-term goal of supporting broader participation in waste-reduction initiatives.
As cities and communities continue to face rising waste volumes and infrastructure constraints, solutions that reduce waste at the source are gaining increased attention.
