Daniel Agra takes optical photography to Glasgow

Spanish photographer Daniel Agra works without image-editing software, and two of his photographs are in Landscape 2026, at The Glasgow Gallery of Photography from 4 to 28 November. They belong to his series Gallaecia Perpetua.

In Daniel Agra’s photographs the abstraction happens in front of the lens. He uses optical devices as he shoots and develops the RAW file only with Nikon’s software. He insists on saying so because an optical effect can pass for a digital one.

He lives in A Coruña and this year marks fifteen years of photography. Gallaecia Perpetua follows the cycle of water in Galicia, in north-west Spain, with blur, framing and composition chosen on purpose. Its sister project, Gallaecia Intempore, looks at suspended time over the same territory.

Landscape 2026 is a group exhibition. The Glasgow Gallery of Photography, founded in 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland, changes its shows regularly and mixes styles and subjects, from local photographers to international ones.
