Comedy and wounds on the same record: the two tones of Planeta Gayfolk explained

Mike Sain't Louis moves between neighbourhood farce and raw break-up songs, sometimes on the same album, and says that is how queer life feels.

MADRID, Spain, October 24, 2026. Listeners who arrive at Planeta Gayfolk through a comic song, a dating-app satire or a song about a disastrous cruise, may be surprised to find, a few tracks later, a letter to a manipulative ex or a quiet song about trust. The mix is intentional. The author writes both, and refuses to keep them apart.

Everyday queer life, as these songs see it, is made of small scenes: holding hands in the street, a date that goes wrong, a friend who tells you the truth, the hangover on Sunday. Some of those scenes are funny and some are not.

All of the project's material, from lyrics to music videos, is released under the same name and the same label, MIKE SAIN'T LOUIS, which makes it possible to follow the full catalogue without intermediaries and with one official source of information.

That is why the trilogy alternates moods instead of separating them. It is also why the website offers a listening order: it helps new listeners follow the story through the changes of tone.

The queer culture these songs portray is everyday life: holding hands in the street, a date that goes wrong, the handsome neighbour, the Sunday hangover, the brutally honest friend. No grand speeches; small scenes that together show what living as an LGBTQ+ person in any city looks like today.

The project has its own manifesto. In the «Universo» section of gayfolkplanet.com, the author argues for identity as raw material, for an open «work-world», for hyper-production as a language and for independence as a way of working. That idea explains why no song stands alone: each one points to others, to a character or to a corner of the planet.

Artwork, music videos and lyrics are conceived together. That is why each song has a recognisable visual identity, and why the project's website can lay out the whole catalogue as a map, with albums, characters and places that recur from one track to the next.

Language is part of the game too. Many songs mix Spanish and English within one line, others are written entirely in English and one even ventures into Portuguese. The lyrics archive on mikesaintlouis.com gathers those versions and orders them song by song.

The lyrics are published exactly as they were written, without edits, in the archive on mikesaintlouis.com. There they can be read in alphabetical order, linked to the song and its music video, with English versions where they exist.
