It starts with an initial consultation in which the doctor examines and palpates the breasts to rule out lumps and discusses expectations. Patients then complete a pre-operative work-up: blood tests, a coagulation panel, infection screening, an ECG, a chest X-ray and a breast ultrasound. The operation lasts 1.5 to 3 hours under general anaesthesia and is followed by one day of inpatient observation.
The page also explains where incisions are placed: under the breast, around the areola or in the armpit. The implant is set in a pocket created by the surgeon, who adjusts its position for symmetry.

Preparation at home
Some preparation begins well before travel. The clinic's general page, https://citymedicalcentre.org/breast-augmentation/, advises stopping hormonal oral contraceptives at least a month before surgery, coming off aspirin-containing drugs and steroids, and reducing intense exercise in the weeks before the operation.
