NASHVILLE, TN | November 1, 2026 – TapTunes, Inc., a Nashville-area music technology company, announces the release of a two-sided collectible Smart Media Single featuring Bobby Helms’ holiday classics “Jingle Bell Rock” and “Jingle Bells,” available exclusively through TuneTaps.com.The release follows a licensing collaboration involving Bobby Helms master recordings owned by John E. Kleiman, represented by David Hughes, and music publishing rights administered by Warner Chappell Music.
Featuring Helms’ 1991 recording of “Jingle Bell Rock” on Side A and his performance of “Jingle Bells” on Side B, the collectible recreates the nostalgic experience of playing a traditional 45 RPM record through a smartphone.
Using TapTunes’ proprietary technology, listeners simply tap the physical music card against an NFC-compatible smartphone or scan its QR code to access an interactive virtual record player complete with a spinning record and tonearm. No application download, subscription, or specialized equipment is required.
Bringing a Christmas Classic Into the Future
Originally introduced in 1957, “Jingle Bell Rock” remains one of the most recognizable Christmas songs in American music history.
The new release features Helms’ 1991 recording rather than the original 1957 master. Written by Joseph Carleton Beal and James Ross Boothe, the song has remained a holiday favorite for generations.
The collectible also includes “Jingle Bells,” written by James Lord Pierpont. Although the composition is in the public domain, Helms’ sound recording remains protected by applicable recording rights.
The two-sided release marks the beginning of TapTunes’ broader initiative to introduce legacy recordings and historic music catalogs to new generations through collectible physical music products.
Smart Media Gains Industry Recognition
Founded in January 2023, TapTunes has spent nearly four years developing NFC-enabled music cards, proprietary playback technology, virtual vinyl experiences, and direct-to-consumer music distribution systems.
On October 2, 2026, music industry data provider Luminate began recognizing Smart Media Albums as a distinct physical music format category in the United States and Canada, representing the first new physical music format category added to its tracking system since compact discs.
