Glasgow, Scotland - With Microsoft confirming that Dv3, Dsv3, Ev3 and Esv3 Azure virtual machines retire on 15 November 2029, and v1/v2 VM prices rising approximately 25% from 1 February 2027, Glasgow-based Riverbank IT Systems is offering Scottish businesses a free Azure migration planning session.The retirement affects some of the most widely deployed Azure VM families. After the November 2029 deadline, businesses will no longer be able to create, resize or run these virtual machines, and they may be deallocated.
The separate price increase applies to pay-as-you-go, Enterprise Agreement and Microsoft Customer Agreement rates on v1 series (Bv1, D, Ds, F, Fs, G, Gs, Ls, NP, HC) and v2 series (Av2, Amv2, Dv2, Dsv2, Fsv2, Lsv2). Existing Reserved Instance pricing is protected until the contract term ends.
"Most Scottish SMEs don't know which VM series their cloud workloads run on until something breaks or the bill jumps," said Timothy A., founder of Riverbank IT Systems. "The smart move is mapping every affected machine to a current VM family now, while Microsoft has also lifted the capacity-growth restrictions on v4 series that were limiting migrations."
