As the new school year starts, classrooms still skip money and business
SPANISH FORK, Utah — The 2026–27 school year just started. Most classrooms are missing something this year. They will not be teaching a child how to manage money or start a business.
The latest numbers show this generation is failing with money more than the ones before it. Nearly half of adults under 30 still live with a parent.
Brett, founder of Invested Youth, is trying to change that. He built the course so kids learn financial literacy now, the piece school still does not provide.
Two girls in the program did $2,000 in sales in one weekend. They sold chocolate-covered strawberries to raise money for youth camp. Their mom, Carly, said they did it after taking Invested Youth.
“I built this so kids would stop scrolling and start building. Dream big. Set the goal. Put the phone down. Once they see they can earn their own way, they can accomplish anything,” Brett said.
Invested Youth is a certified vendor for participating state scholarship and education programs.
