ASTORIA, N.Y. — October 21, 2026 — Late October is when drivers in cold-weather states start thinking about snow tires, batteries, wipers, and winter inspections, and auto repair shops, tire dealers, and car washes see one of their busiest stretches of the year. A clear street-facing sign can turn passing traffic into booked service appointments. 48 Hours Banners (https://48hoursbanners.com) is sharing a winter car care signage checklist for auto shops, tire centers, and car washes.Signage that brings in winter service traffic:
- A vinyl banner on the building or fence facing the road: "Winter Tires Installed Here" or "Book Your Winter Tire Swap" with the phone number.
- Yard signs along the driveway promoting specific services: battery testing, wiper blades, coolant checks, and undercarriage washes.
- A retractable banner in the waiting room listing winter service packages and a QR code for online booking.
Tips for the season:
- Put signs up before the first cold snap, when drivers start searching for appointments.
- Keep one service and one phone number per yard sign so drivers can read it at road speed.
- Use a reusable main banner without dates, and swap smaller yard signs for monthly specials.
- Check town rules for temporary signs near the road before placing yard signs.
"Most winter tire customers book after they see a sign on their usual route," said a spokesperson for 48 Hours Banners. "With 48-hour delivery and free overnight shipping, a shop can order now and have banners up before the first frost."
