ASTORIA, N.Y. — October 22, 2026 — Outdoor ice rinks, seasonal skating pavilions, and indoor arenas across the country open public skating in November, and the first weekends bring families who have never visited before. Clear signs at the entrance, the skate rental window, and the parking lot help new skaters find their way and keep lines moving. 48 Hours Banners (https://48hoursbanners.com) is sharing an ice rink and winter skating season signage plan for rink operators, parks departments, and downtown associations.Signage for opening weekend:
- A large vinyl banner at the entrance or on the rink fence with the season name, public skate hours, and website.
- A retractable banner at the ticket and skate rental window listing admission prices, rental sizes, and a QR code for online tickets.
- Yard signs from the parking lot and sidewalk pointing to the entrance, restrooms, warming hut, and lockers.
- Fence banners around the rink boards thanking season sponsors.
Tips for the season:
- Use weatherproof vinyl with grommets and wind slits for outdoor rinks and fence lines.
- Keep the main banner date-free so it works all winter, and use smaller signs for holiday skate nights and lessons.
- Put safety rules on a separate sign near the ice entrance so they are easy to read before skaters step on.
"Opening weekend is when a rink earns its regulars, and good signs make a first visit easy," said a spokesperson for 48 Hours Banners. "With 48-hour delivery and free overnight shipping, rinks can order this week and be ready for November."
