At 16, Nigerian Entrepreneur Asanato Mayor Is Building Rivol, a Global Platform for Young EntrepreneursAt just 16 years old, Nigerian entrepreneur Asanato Mayor is building a technology platform with an ambitious focus: helping young entrepreneurs around the world discover one another, showcase what they are building, and find people they can build with.
The platform, Rivol, is being developed as a free web application for young entrepreneurs worldwide. Rather than positioning itself as another general-purpose social network, Rivol is being shaped around entrepreneurship, collaboration and the discovery of business opportunities.
The concept gives young business owners a place to showcase their businesses, discover potential co-founders and collaborators, and connect with other young entrepreneurs across different industries. The platform is also designed around AI-powered matching and in-app messaging, creating a way for potential partnerships to move from discovery to conversation.
A different kind of network for young builders
For many young entrepreneurs, finding people with complementary skills, interests or business ideas can be difficult.
Rivol is being built around that gap.
A fashion entrepreneur could discover a photographer or designer. A technology founder could find another young builder interested in joining a project. Someone running a food business could connect with another entrepreneur who brings a completely different skill set.
The platform is intended to span industries including fashion, beauty, food, technology, arts, crafts, photography and more.
The bigger idea is simple: young people are already building businesses, brands and ideas, but many of them are building in isolation. Rivol is being designed to make the people behind those projects easier to discover.
Building from Jos for a worldwide audience
Mayor is developing Rivol from Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria, while aiming its reach far beyond Nigeria.
That international ambition is one of the more interesting aspects of the project. A platform being built by a teenager in Jos is being designed from the beginning with young entrepreneurs around the world in mind.
Rivol is currently being developed as a free platform, with its early community and future users expected to play an important role in shaping its growth.
At 16, Mayor is not waiting for adulthood to begin experimenting with technology and entrepreneurship. He is already building products, testing ideas and attempting to create something that can operate on a global scale.
Rivol is still at the stage where its story is being written. But if Mayor's vision succeeds, the platform could become a space where the next generation of entrepreneurs do more than simply meet online.
They could find the people they were looking for to build something together.
